Balking My Own System

Each morning at 5am, I'm up with the daunting, life-sucking, sleep-deprevating sound of my shrill alarm clock...ugh.
Most of the time, I'm up at the sound of it, trying to shut the annoying thing off before my family hears and yells at me.
But yesterday morning, my husband had to shake me awake.  I still got up to write, but the whole day, I was so d-r-a-i-n-e-d!
So this morning, I went against my own rule!
I changed the alarm time, and went back to bed for another hour.
I took a day off of writing, and I thought I'd feel terrible, but fortunately, I feel refreshed!
Today, I woke up a little sleepy still, but nothing like yesterday!
I feel great today!

Q4u:
What is your schedule?  Have you ever broken your system?  If so, how did you feel about it?

  1. Sometimes a day off is completely what we need - especially if we're not getting enough sleep.
Since I'm doing this full-time my schedule's a little more free-form. I still write a lot into the evenings; I'm such a night owl. I probably need to get a little more structured, come to think of it.

  2. Lol.
    I completely agree.
I'm so ready to get back to writing, though.
I really miss having spent time with my characters, but I don't feel guilty at all :D
    I just hope I don't make this a habit...lol
The only time I have to spare is in the morning, unless I learn to write with Sammy crawling on my computer, :)
Maybe the presence of the computer will be normal if I keep at it at night...then I'll be able to sleep that extra hour each morning.
(sigh) just takes so much planning and stuff :D
But it's very much worth it.

  3. I wish I could say I have a system. :/

I suppose I do during the school year, but now that we're enjoying summer vacation, there's definitely no timeline or schedule. I'm enjoying it!

Thanks for visiting my blog today! Best of luck with your writing. :)

  5. System? What's that? LOL Actually, I do have one but I break my rules frequently. It sounds like you really needed that break though. Sleep is so important.
I'm sorry I'm just now stopping by! I really appreciate the comments you've left on my last posts. Thanks so much for stopping by. :-)
Also, I see you live in FL. So do I? What town, if you don't mind me asking? I live in a small one too, Dunnellon. :-)

  6. Oh, Kelly, I know the feeling! Sometimes I look at the clock and think, "It's time to get up already!?!" I let myself sleep in on the weekends. Knowing that sort of carries me through when I'm feeling incredibly groggy during the weekdays.

How are things going? I know how it feels to let Satan's voice crowd fear into our hearts.

  7. This is my first time here, and I love your blog layout--so pretty! And yes, I've rebelled. Just yesterday. It was the first day back after a jam-packed three-day weekend away and I *gasp* slept in! Totally worth it!

  8. Don't feel bad about it! :) I don't even have a schedule. I just do what I can when I can. Wouldn't work any other way, unfortunately :o)

I've slept in the last few days...and wasn't able to meet my quota for my busy weekend...:(

But it's easy to forgive myself when I'm the boss. :D
